UFL I WEEK TWO GAME REPORTS

December 10, 2016

An unseasonally warm day greeted the UFL teams this morning, itching to either build on last week's victories, or get their first win of the season.

Hawks 20-33 Wolf Pack
The Wolf Pack carried on as they left off last week, with 'Hot Wheels' Sandison's blistering speed off the edge proving just too much for the Hawk's defence. the Wolf Pack took the lead with an unconverted TD, but the Hawks came straight back with Krishan Johnson again finding Joe Bliss to continue their scoring streak from last week. Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Howlers then went went on to score twice with no reply to race into a 6-19 lead, Sandison and Matty Cooper with the scores. But the Hawks are made of sterner stuff with Krishan to Bliss, a Joe Bliss Pick 6 and then a Krishan rush seeing them retake the lead 20-19. But the Pack dropped down a gear and pulled away at the end, Joe McDonagh with a massive tackle and Ben Remmer with a pick and Sandison scoring to finish off the fighting Hawks.

Mavericks 27-30 Thunder
Another nailbiter for these teams, this time the Thunder running out winners. The first half was a defensive battle, Isaac Oldcorn, Zak Thompson balling hard for the Thunder before Cameron Cooper scored their opening TD. The incredible Mav Noah Limon then came up with the UFL play of the day sacking Cam Cooper, ending their drive and handing the ball back to Dylan Walsh who threw to Lewis Nicholson to level it up. Cameron Cooper bounced back though, throwing to Zak Thompson to retake the lead, before Dylan Walsh let loose with a 40yd bomb to Reeve Landau on the one yd line and then throwing to Elliott Duffey to end the first half all square at 12-12.

The second half then turned into a shootout... BAM Sam Smith throwing to Louis Gent Larroche for the Thunder. THWACK Landau to Walsh and a converted PAT by Oscar Devos to put the Mavs ahead. BIFF Cooper to Thompson for the Thunder. As the seconds ticked down, Walsh to Devos again and 2 PAT conversion by Dylan gave the Mavericks what they thought would be the deciding score... But no. In the dying seconds, Sam Smith found Charlie Thompson to break Maverick hearts and give Coach Sheldon's heavyweights the win. What a game to bring us into the Christmas break.
