UFL1 - WEEK THREE PREVIEW

STANDINGS 1. Wolf Pack 2-0 2. Thunder 1-1 3. Hawks 1-1 4. Mavericks 0-2

Happy New year everyone. This Saturday is a doozy, first up we find the second placed Thunder taking on the third placed Hawks. For the Thunder the winter break came at just the wrong time. Their first victory in the bag, Zak Thompson and Cam Cooper were just starting to hit their stride.

Joe Smith's Hawks will be looking to recover from their loss to a powerful Wolf Pack team, Krishan Johnson's poise at QB will be a factor along with the two way phenom Joe Bliss but the Thunder will still look to be favourites on paper, despite their enigmatic head coach Sheldon Campbell being absent due to Great Britain playing duties. Gent-Larroche and Oldcorn will figure, but don't discount the mini's in both teams, from Sadeghian and Smith on the Thunder roster through to Cluskey and Shaw for the Hawks.

In the other fixture, league leaders the Wolf Pack have Owen Yarwood returning to action from his winter training camp in Florida eager to plan the downfall of a Mavericks team sitting firmly at the base of the table. Do not expect him to take them lightly however.

The Bellichick-esque preparation of Yarwood will know only too well how dangerous Gabriel Vassell's team are, with strength throughout their roster from the gargantuan Oscar Devos right through to the diminutive but speedy Luis Shipley and Noah "sackmaster" Limon. However, they will have to cope with the Howler's strength in depth too - #1 draft pick Sandison, Cooper, Oldcorn and the younger Thompson brother included. Top vs bottom, but is this the week the Mav's rise to the surface and break their opponents 100% record?
