ULTIMATE BOWL CHAMPIONS - THE WOLF PACK

ULTIMATE BOWL II

HAWKS 24 - 26 WOLF PACK

We've said so many times before that a game was one for the ages, but these two pulled out all the stops to produce one of the most thrilling games we have ever seen. A game that went all the way to the final play to be decided.

It didn't start that way though, the Hawks flying out into a 12-0 lead with Matty Cooper driving downfield and throwing two TD passes to Panashe Gaihai, the second a one handed catch that OBJ would have been proud of. The Wolf Pack sideline remained calm though and with their latest acquisition forced the ball downfield with clever running by Wisdom to get two TDs and draw things level by halftime.

There needed to be a decider in this game and on the next Hawks drive, it came - but not how one would expect it. Matty Cooper drove downfield again and found Oscar O'Connor in the end zone to give the Hawks the lead back, and on the PAT he dropped to pass but Joe McDonagh rose to intercept and ran the ball the length of the field to give the Pack 2 points back and it was 18-14 to the Hawks.

From here though the Pack took over, with Sam Smith under centre he threw for two second half scores to Xavier Richards and then Joe McDonagh that put them up 26-18. With less than a minute on the clock the Hawks came back out and Cooper drove them all the way to the End zone capping the drive with another pass to Oscar O'Connor to make it a 2 point game, but despite two attempts to score the levelling 2PAT, they were unable to defeat the Pack's stingy pass defense.

And as the final whistle blew, the victorious Wolf Pack ran onto the field to celebrate a 26-24 victory. Fitting that Sam Smith and Owen Yarwood pick up the Ultimate Bowl - from the special guest Coach Dom Bonvetti visiting from Delaware in the USA - as they were instrumental in the season's success..

UFL TROPHY

Mavericks 38 - 7 Dragons

This game played more to form than the other game. the Mavs were worthy winners and despite a small squad on the day, their strength and experience payed dividends. Maksim Ivanov pulled in the first score and Oskar Oldcorn grabbed the PAT, then two Rushing TDs by Maksim and Teddy Hope, followed by an Oskar Oldcorn TD catch and they were in a commanding and ultimately unassailable lead 25-0.

Elliott Duffey was then able to pull a score back with a touchdown and PAT, but the Mavericks hadn't finished, Teddy Hope running in another TD and Luis Shipley bagging the PAT, then Maksim hauling in the final score to make it Mavericks 38 - 7 Dragons.
